Tributes are pouring in for Robert Redford, the good actor, director, and Sundance Movie Pageant founder who died September 16 on the age of 89. Some of the shifting comes from his costar Jane Fonda, who appeared in 5 films with him: 1960’s “Tall Story” (Redford’s first film — he went uncredited), 1966’s “The Chase,” 1967’s “Barefoot within the Park,” 1979’s “The Electrical Horseman,” and 2017’s “Our Souls at Night time.”
In a press release supplied to IndieWire, Fonda stated, “It hit me exhausting this morning once I learn that Bob was gone. I can’t cease crying. He meant lots to me and was an exquisite individual in each manner. He stood for an America we now have to maintain preventing for.”
Tom Rothman, chairman and CEO of Sony Photos Movement Image Group, informed IndieWire in a press release, “Along with being a titanic appearing and directing expertise, as an early board member of the Sundance Institute, I noticed first-hand the Sundance Child’s passionate dedication to indie movie and younger artists. Different tributes got here from Marlee Matlin, who acknowledged on X the unbelievable influence that Redford’s Sundance Movie Pageant had on permitting smaller human dramas to flourish. “Our movie, CODA, got here to the eye of everybody due to Sundance. And Sundance occurred due to Robert Redford. A genius has handed. RIP Robert.”
