Matt FX’s rendition of “A Second” from Thaïs Sala is unorthodox and interesting in some ways, due to the temper he created alongside together with his intriguing sound design.
Matt FX is a New York-based DJ, producer, and music supervisor with a singular knack for riveting rhythms and magnetic melodies. What initially grabbed my consideration concerning the remix of “A Second” have been the dusty, breakbeat-inspired drums layered with shiny, eerie synths. The vocal efficiency acts as a distinction with their soothing but emotive appeal, and that is complemented by the presence of a mellotron to breathe life into the combination.
“Matt took the unique – a swanky rooftop prepared reflection of guilt and love misplaced (expertly produced by Montreal’s Moses Belanger) and turned it into an emotional late evening warehouse reduce drenched within the fog of rave and layered with icy chilly synths and thundering, steely breaks.”
